“Every ending brings with it a new beginning. May 2021 be a spectacular new beginning to a much-needed wonderful year.” ~Lisa Merlo-Booth
Happy New Year! I can’t think of another year where so many people worldwide were more excited to get out of than 2020. Far too many people lost loved ones, jobs, businesses, and their health this past year. If you were one of the lucky ones and didn’t experience these losses, be thankful. Sometimes we forget how lucky we are when it feels like there is so much pain and hardship around: don’t forget.
2020 was a scary year in many ways, and that fear drove many people in unfortunate ways. This year, don’t allow fear to drive you. Take a step back from what “could” happen and focus on what you have the power to control. Take the time this year to give your time and attention to what’s important. Strengthen your relationships. Spend time with loved ones. Take some time to rest, read, sit by the fire, play a game, journal, and have long conversations with someone you love. Take the reins of your life wherever you can and create a life where you thrive. Surround yourself with people who lift you up rather than hold you down. Create a schedule that leaves you feeling good about your day. Go after goals that result in you being proud of who you are, what you do, and what you accomplished.
Woo hoo, it’s a New Year! Take advantage of this moment in time and regroup. Squeeze your loved ones a little tighter; check-in on your friends a little more often. Be kinder to your partner, more playful with your kids, and more present in your home. This past year was a reminder to all of us of how precious and unpredictable life can be. Learn from the harsh lessons it brought you and start this new year off with renewed wisdom, courage, and love.
Challenge: Welcome the New Year with new energy, hope, gratitude, and grit. Avoid using vices to numb out. Find the courage to connect with, engage in, and strengthen all of your relationships—particularly the one with yourself.
Wishing you a very Happy New Year!
