“Many died so you could live with the freedoms you have today. Don’t ever take those freedoms for granted.” ~LMB
More men and women have fought for and died for your right to freedom than you can imagine. These brave soldiers fought for your right to:
- Share your thoughts freely.
- Speak your truth safely.
- Worship how you want to worship.
- Safely protest against issues you believe are unjust.
- Read the books you want to read.
- Live your life as an equal.
They fought for these rights and many others. Appreciate the extent these men and women have been willing to go for the rights of people they never met. The military lives are put on the line every day. Today, we honor all of the brave men and women who have lost their lives so that you can have the privilege of living yours. Take a moment today to appreciate this priceless gift. Take a moment today to realize how many soldiers lost their lives so you could maintain a certain quality in yours.
As you live your life this week, be thankful for the freedoms you have because a veteran laid down his/her life for you. You are one of many human beings helped by many other human beings who happen to be soldiers. These soldiers are represented by all races, genders, sexual orientations, backgrounds, political beliefs, socio-economical levels, etc. Remember your humanity this week, as well as the humanity of those who fight for you every day.
Challenge: This Memorial Day, take a moment to be thankful for all the freedoms you have due to the lives lost fighting for those freedoms. Be a little kinder, far more compassionate, and significantly more tolerant of the differences of others. Many of those “others” are fighting for you. Lend a hand, give a smile, offer assistance, have a conversation, and do whatever you can to make the day or life of a fellow human being a little more positive than it was before you came along.
Happy Memorial Day to all those who have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms; we appreciate and thank you for your service!
