“Sometimes, fighting for our country requires resting, replenishing, and regrouping.”
~LMB

This Veteran’s Day, I am more aware than ever of the ongoing threats our nation faces daily and the tremendous sacrifices made by those who have fought for our country. I want to express my gratitude to all the service men and women who have, for generations, fought for my rights to:

  • Speak my beliefs, opinions, thoughts, ideologies, and dreams.
  • Peacefully march in protest to ideas, actions, or events that felt unacceptable to me.
  • Read the books, newspapers, articles, and materials I choose to read.
  • Safely practice whatever faith I choose to practice—even when that faith may have differed from yours.

Most importantly, I cannot thank our service men and women enough for your determination and commitment to “uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic.” I know this commitment is foundational to the safety of our nation. Honoring the country that so many servicemen and women have laid down their lives for is more challenging than most can imagine, yet you do it every day. Thank you.

As we enter a new phase in our country, protecting the fundamental rights on which our nation was founded and that are enshrined in our constitution may become increasingly challenging. Every day, you fight for our freedoms, liberty, and safety—facing threats both from within and outside our borders. Please know that we are grateful for your courage and dedication to ensuring our peace and security.

Fighting for our country is challenging work—mentally, physically, and emotionally. May you all find the time and support to rest, recharge, and, when necessary, regroup as you find the strength to fight another day. A heartfelt thank you goes to your families, who often hold the seemingly unbearable weight of your absence. May your children and loved ones feel the love, gratitude, and support of millions of Americans for their sacrifices and yours.

Wishing our servicemen, women, and your families a loving, restful, and replenishing Veteran’s Day.
