“Countless soldiers have fought and died protecting the rights and freedoms of people they’ve never met. Don’t ever take their courage and sacrifices for granted.” ~LMB
More soldiers have fought for your rights and freedom than you can imagine. Defending your rights to free speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, the right to peacefully assemble, and the right to petition the government “for a redress of grievances” has always been at the heart of every soldier’s mission. Many soldiers have laid down their lives fighting for these freedoms and the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for those they have never met. Their lives are put on the line and, sadly, lost every day to provide freedoms and protections for loved ones and strangers alike. Honor this priceless gift that you were given by a loved one who served, a stranger who fought, and a soldier who lost their life so that you can enjoy a certain quality of life.
As you go about your week, remember all those who have lost their lives fighting for your freedoms. Honoring the lives lost in defense of these freedoms starts with respecting and protecting the rights and freedoms upon which our country was founded. Our military is represented by all races, genders, sexual orientations, backgrounds, political beliefs, religions, and socio-economic statuses. Remember to honor this fact today and always; our nation is built on this core principle that our soldiers fight and die to protect.
To all current members of the armed forces, may you find the courage, strength, and determination during these difficult times to stay true to your mission of protecting the rights and freedoms enshrined in the United States Constitution. May your commitment to safeguarding our nation’s freedoms remain clear in your hearts and unwavering in every action you take. While you fight for our freedoms, know that countless people stand behind you, grateful and supportive, and forever in your debt for protecting the foundation of our country.
Challenge: As you honor our soldiers this Memorial Day, remember the freedoms and rights they are risking—and in many cases–sacrificing their lives to protect. You owe your freedoms to their courage. Honor their service by guarding these freedoms, thanking them for their service whenever possible, and consistently supporting them through your words and actions.
In memory of all those who have lost their lives to defend our freedoms, I thank you and your families for the tremendous sacrifices you have made.
