Spread the love

Here is one of the first holiday tips that I wrote and wanted to reshare. I believe this message is even more important today than the day I first posted it back in 2017. May you have a very happy holiday season surrounded by many great human beings.

The greatest gift you can give to yourself and others is the gift of being a great human being.” ~LMB

Merry Christmas throughout the world! May all those who celebrate Christmas be washed in the reminder that ALL of humanity is worthy, loved, and a child of God. May all those who do not celebrate Christmas be washed in the reminder that ALL of humanity is worthy, valued, and an essential part of our world.

May we all remember this holiday season that we are all joined by one irrefutable commonality: our humanity. Every man, woman, and child on this planet is human. This is true regardless of your skin color, religion you believe or do not believe in, who you choose to love, or where you live. No amount of money, fame, or influence can result in one person being “more” inherently worthy than another: We are all equally human.

The dictionary defines humanity as: “compassionate, sympathetic, or generous behavior or disposition: the quality or state of being humane.” This holiday season—remember your humanity—it’s what ties all of us together. Our humanity is our greatest gift—when we use it as such. Be kind to your neighbor. Be supportive of your struggling family member. Be compassionate towards people experiencing homelessness. Refuse to allow fear to drive you towards hate. Hate always has a way of creating more hate. Inevitably, the hate you give somehow finds its way back to you—don’t put it out there.

Challenge: Practice embracing your humanity throughout this holiday season and beyond. Be “compassionate, sympathetic, and generous” in your thoughts, actions, and deeds—towards ALL of humanity. Choosing this path will be the greatest gift you could give to others and yourself.
