This past week my daughter Rylee got to choose a Tender Coupon from the Kids Power Pack. She looked through the pile several times and narrowed her choice down to three cards: Have a friend over within the next seven days, Choice of family restaurant or movie, or One day filled with compliments and positive comments.
I was sure she would pick the friend… Imagine my surprise when she picked the compliments!!!
She held the coupon for a couple days and then came up to me this morning and turned in her Tender Coupon for: ONE DAY FILLED WITH COMPLIMENTS AND POSITIVE COMMENTS.
I gave her a great big hug and showered her with compliments…the grin on her face was priceless.
In the car a little later, I gave her three more compliments…the grin on her face, again, was priceless, as she thanked me for each one. Her father then called her on the way to school to also help fill her day with compliments…yes, same grin!!!
This was the neatest thing to watch because although I often talk about the power of words, I was so struck by their impact on my daughter. It changes her entire day. She was proud of herself, felt loved, and was wonderful taking the compliments in. She enjoyed them so much that I want the same card!
When was the last time you received a full day of compliments? When was the last time you consciously gave a full day of compliments? I have a feeling both our answers are very similar…
So I want to thank my daughter Rylee for reminding me of the importance of Tender Sprinkles, the power of words, and for helping me to enjoy giving to such an awesome degree! It’s been really fun.
I will do my best to shower my family with love, on my own, without having to wait for my daughter to hand me a reminder. I want to encourage all of you to do the same…it’s a great experience!
CHALLENGE: What a great present to give to our loved ones…a little tenderness and appreciation. Commit to choosing a day and consciously spreading the love through your compliments, actions, and tender touches.
